Dairying Field and Discussion Day

Wednesday 6th. October.. 2011

10.00am – 3.30pm

Phillip’s Farm,

2362 Wiremu Road near O’Kato West of the mountain in Taranki.

Turn North east from Opunaki on Ihaia Road, turn left onto Wiremu road then travel to the farm.

If traveling from the north turn left in Okato onto Oxford road then veer right onto Saunders Road and continue to Wiremu Road

The agenda for today is to discuss pasture quality particularly the effect of oxygen plus the Biodynamic preparations on effluent manure. We will also discus stirring and oxygenation and its effects on growth. How can we change things to our benefit?

We will walk some of the farm. On the way we will note pasture, stock and soil condition. Discuss issues that arise, such as managing extremes of climate and growing a feed wedge for successful mating and hay and silage making. A brief overview of the soil test and what this might mean for nutrient loss.

Bring your questions and boots and join us for a day of learning what the BD preparations can do for you and your farm.
